Chirp, The Company
Chirp Interactive was founded in 2007 to help you stay connected to your friends and make better use of your relationships. Our first product is chirpscreen, which includes both an interactive screen saver and a desktop viewer, that displays photos, messages, and other content you're interested in from sites like Facebook, Flicker, eBay and Twitter.
chirpscreen offers an engaging display of content (photos, messages, products) that you're interested in - from your friends and your favorite websites, including Facebook, Flickr, eBay and Twitter. You can view your personalized display by downloading a single file that includes both a desktop viewer (for Mac & Windows) and a screen saver (Windows only). After installing, you'll connect to your preferred websites via the "controls" panel in either application. We'll display content for you from these sites (like your friends' Facebook photos, or their Twitter messages, or eBay auctions of a product you're interested in). Each piece of content offers various interaction capabilities, from sharing (via Facebook message or email), to commenting, to replies (for Twitters). Try out different types of content to see what you can do!
Once you've connected to your favorite websites (like Facebook, Flickr and eBay) through the chirpscreen controls panel, chirpscreen collects relevant, fun content from those websites and displays that content to you. We access that content using whatever mechanisms those services provide (such as APIs, or RSS feeds). We then filter the content to create your personalized display.
Just select a piece of content from that friend and click the "block" icon. You won't recieve any more content from that individual. If you change your mind, click the "controls" button, and select "preferences". From there, you can unblock all your blocked friends.
Chirp is adamant about creating great user experiences and thus would never allow adware or spyware to accompany our application.
Definitely not! While having these accounts can make the chirpscreen experience more fun, you don't need any outside accounts to use the Community Photos (powered by Flickr) or Window Shopping (powered by eBay) content sources. After clicking "controls" in either application, enter photo topics in the Community Photos source (we've enjoyed "sharks", or "golden gate bridge", among others) or products you're interested in in the Window Shopping source (for example, "nike shoes" or "legos") and content will appear in your chirpscreen.
The viewer is available for both Windows (XP & Vista) and Mac OSX platforms.
Click the "controls" button in the upper right corner to bring up the chirpscreen control panel. Here you can connect to (or disconnect from) any of the variety of content sources that we have available. The selections you make will also apply to your chirpscreen screen saver if you are using that application as well.
Yes, we store the last several items that have gone by in your viewer. Just hover over the viewer with your mouse, and a set of rewind/play/pause/forward buttons should appear so that you can pause, go back one image, or go back to the earliest image we have stored. You can also go forward to the most recent image we have collected for you.
The chirpscreen screen saver runs on Windows (XP and Vista) platforms.
Your screen saver is controlled by a Windows display setting. Just click on the Start menu in the lower left corner of your screen, and then select "Settings", then "Control Panel", then "Display". If you select the "Screen Saver" tab, you can determine how long you computer should be idle until your screen saver comes on. If you click the "Power" button on the "Screen Saver" tab, you can also manage more advanced settings regarding when your monitor screen turns off completely.
Yes, you can turn off the chirpscreen screen saver in the Windows display settings without affecting the desktop viewer. Just click on the Start menu in the lower left corner of your screen, and then select "Settings", then "Control Panel", then "Display", then the "Screen Saver" tab. You can then set your screen saver to whatever you would like it to be.
